Castle Point Community Health and Infrastructure Grant Scheme Information

The Castle Point Community Health and Infrastructure Grant Scheme has been created to give local communities the opportunity to develop projects that improve the quality of life for residents across the borough. Grants of between £2,000 to £5,000 with the potential for CIL capital grants up to £10,000, are available for organisations working to deliver projects that strengthen community health and wellbeing or enhance local infrastructure.

A total of £88,000 is available through the scheme. £48,000 of the funding comes from the neighbourhood element of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which is specifically for projects located within Benfleet, Hadleigh, Thundersley and Daws Heath.

The remaining £40,000, provided through Public Health funding, can be used for eligible projects anywhere within the Borough of Castle Point.

Certain projects, whose overall costs exceed the £5000 limit, may be offered match‑funding. This means the Council may contribute up to 50% of the total project cost, with the applicant providing the remaining amount from other sources such as fundraising, donations, reserves, or other grants. Where match funding is offered, the Council’s contribution will come from either CIL or Public Health funding, depending on the project’s location and type.

This grant scheme directly supports the (Castle Point Plan (2026–2043) and its  Infrastructure Delivery Plan. These official plans aim to improve local infrastructure, boost community well-being, and protect the character of our towns. By using developer funds like the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) alongside public health funding, this scheme helps meet the borough’s strategic goals. It ensures that local growth goes hand‑in‑hand with better facilities and healthier lives for all residents.

Public Health and Wellbeing Projects will be funded if they are clearly aligned with the priorities set out in the Castle Point & Rochford Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025–28which demonstrate wider community benefits and impacts rather than benefiting individual clubs or organisations.

The scheme will open for applications on Monday 20 July 2026 and will close on Monday 31 August 2026.

Applications will be assessed throughout September and October 2026, with final decisions on funding allocations made at the end of this assessment period. Applicants are encouraged to check this page for updates, including confirmation of committee dates.
