Castle Point Active Community Wellbeing

We are really excited to introduce you to the Castle Point Active –  Wellbeing Team working to enhance the  quality of life and social connections of people in our local community!

The teams goal is to deliver sociable, inclusive, accessible and diverse activities for all ages aimed at getting people moving but also to improve both physical and mental health.

We’re here to listen to the voices of our community and want to shape our offers around the things that you need and would like to do. So If you see us in and around Benfleet, Canvey Island, Thundersley or Hadleigh, please come and talk to us!

Our community drop ins and free/low cost classes at the Paddocks offer a variety of sessions and we’re encouraging voluntary, healthcare and support services to attend with us, so we can signpost to the care and support people need.

One of our jobs is to ensure everyone living in Castle Point is aware of the great work and services provided by our amazing health partners and local charities.

As part of the offer each referred individual will receive 1-2-1 assessments and ongoing support from either a fitness coach or member of the Well-Being Team. We know that for many people simply coming into a leisure or community centre can seem like a daunting prospect but we’re here to ease that journey by helping you to build confidence in achieving your health and fitness goals. We take a person centred, inclusive approach and appreciate that everyone has different needs. We’re passionate in our shared mission of helping our communities to become healthier and happier, by enabling positive behaviour change for all ages and improving health outcomes.

The EXIT Routes for the scheme are a reduced membership offer, continued Free sessions at the Paddocks or, if appropriate sign-posting/referral to a community based health & wellbeing initiative or group.

Our aim is to improve the levels of physical activity and engagement for the hard-to-reach residents in the Castlepoint district particularly those with physical and mental health issues, unable to access leisure facilities due to financial hardship/COL or due to being socially prescribed exercise as part of recovery from surgery or illness, or to improve their general health and well-being. Also, to break down some of the barriers that prevent people from being active and promoting social inclusion by bringing people into the leisure and community facilities with the aim of building confidence by introducing them to Community Health and Well-Being Team, as well as creating a more positive health culture, supported by CP-BC and the community health partners and stakeholders we engage with.
